Master Cheeks is a slang nickname referring to the Halo character Master Chief when the context is sexual in nature, as in making him Dummy Thicc. Though early iterations primarily featured Master Chief photoshopped to appear thicc, the release of the Halo TV series in early 2022 saw the term shift to become a reference to Master Chief clapping cheeks after the show’s character, played by Pablo Schreiber, revealed his butt in the series and later had sex with a character named Makee.
The earliest known reference to Master Cheeks comes from a Reddit post in the /r/HaloMemes subreddit submitted by Redditor[1] Knighted-Hero on September 7th, 2019, in which Master Chief is photoshopped to be thicc, earning over 100 upvotes in three years (shown below).
Three months later, on December 13th, 2019, a screenshot of another Reddit thread was uploaded as a meme in which a joke is made about where Master Chief normally stores ammo during gameplay, earning Redditor MooskimoXB[2] over 1,300 upvotes in three years (shown below).
With the release of the live-action Halo TV Series in March 2022, Master Chief was played by actor Pablo Schreiber rather than being CGI, which resulted in the Master Cheeks meme seeing a massive resurgence when the series creators had a scene show Master Chief’s butt in a bathroom in episode two, causing fans to make memes using the phrase “Master Cheeks” again online. This can be seen in the meme uploaded to Facebook by user Jesse Eldad[3] in which Master Chief’s actor is telling another soldier how he took off his armor to show his bare cheeks (shown below).
Within the ninth episode of the series, released on May 12th, 2022, Master Chief then had sex with the main antagonist of the show, a covenant spy named Makee, which reinvigorated the Master Cheeks meme as several viral reactions and memes made about Master Cheeks “finally clapping cheeks” were shared online. One such example was posted to Facebook by user Kelsie Jackson[4] on May 12th (shown below).
