The power of social media means we can only show the things we want people to see, reducing the reality of our lives – and one woman shared how easy it can be to make yourself look completely different online.
Body positive influencer Karina Irby took it upon herself to share the stark reality of how different people can look in real life compared to online as she shared a snap of herself in a bikini and then another five minutes later.
The Australian swimwear designer shared how easy it is to alter your body, just by the way you pose. In the first photo, she's relaxed her body while sat down in a bikini, and in the other, is showing off her curves while standing in the sea with her head tilted back and her back arched.
The 32-year-old uploaded the images and said: "What you see online compared to how I'd look if you walked past me on the beach," as she proved it's all to do with how you stand and added: "Snapping content is all about angles! And this is a prime example!"
She revealed: "These pics were taken five minutes apart and I look like two different people! I love both versions." Many people were quick to praise the blonde beauty for her real and honest photos while sharing her body confidence, with many claiming she helps them to love their own bodies.
"You make me feel so much more comfortable in my own body. Much love," one fan commented, while another added: "Your body positivity makes me love myself a little bit more."
"Nothing on Insta is real except your page. Keep going!" A third chimed, as a fourth penned: "I'm a guy and have to say you are absolutely awesome."
In another post, Karina opened up about what led her to appreciating her body more as she admitted she used to take her body for granted. She inspired others with the post and said: "It's so easy to take our bodies for granted. Unfortunately it took my Dad having his legs and freedom taken away from him to help me really, REALLY realise how unimportant worrying about things truly is. Embrace your 'flaws' and remember they allow you to live your amazing life!
